This Business Diploma course is for people that have passion and a flair for business and would like to study on a Higher Education programme in Business Studies, Marketing, Accounting or Finance or to widen their understanding of business to gain a Diploma.
You will learn about your subjects in a variety of ways including group work, webinars, independent research, taking part in community discussions, self sourced visits to industry and live projects.
You will expand both your technical and creative skills through practical projects and you will also be encouraged to develop your study skills, including research, analysis and presentation of your creative thinking process. You will have access to practical workshops as well as webinars and classroom-based activities.
All applications are assessed on an individual basis. There is no requirement for prior qualifications however to access a University course many Universities may require you to have GCSE passes (Grade A-C) in English and Maths – in addition to passing a valid level 3 qualification such as the Access course. You must check in advance with your preferred University to see if they accept Level 2 Maths & English instead of GCSE’s.
Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Business) accredited by Ascentis.
This course is for people that have passion and a flair for business and would like to go on to study on a Higher Education programme in, for example, Business Studies, Marketing, Economics, Accounting or Finance. The course provides the credits (entry qualifications) and skills to gain access to a university degree course.
You will study a range of units selected from the following subject areas: Business Finance, Economics, Marketing plus a range of Study Skills. Also, there will be an opportunity to develop your level 2 Maths and English skills, academic practice and relevant IT skills.
You will study a range of units selected from subject areas including business, economics, marketing and management.
Learning will be through Distance Learning. Your Access to Higher Education course will be delivered and assessed online using the latest Virtual Learning Environment technology, online one to one tutorials, group webinars and the opportunity to attend workshops scheduled throughout your course. Modules are a combination of 30 or 60 learning hours each. The Access to Higher Education course requires 600 hours of study time. You will be expected to typically commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week independent study to suit your personal circumstances. This is the recommended guideline to support you to achieve.

This Access to Higher Education Diploma course is for those wishing to progress to Higher Education in areas such as Business Studies, Finance, Economics, Marketing or Accounting.
The qualification is structured so that it meets the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) Access to HE specification requirements. All Access to HE Diplomas are made up of units of assessment that amount to 60 credits.
The qualification’s 60 credits include 45 graded credits at level 3 that must be achieved from units that have academic subject content. The remaining 15 credits will be from “study skills” and Introductory units that will both provide you with the skills to study the Access course and prepare you for study at Higher Education level.

There are a range of assessment techniques for the subjects covered which include assignments, portfolios, written reports, online group work activity, course related discussions with your tutor and research you have conducted and uploaded to the Virtual Learning Environment. Face to face discussions (using e.g. Skype or similar video technology) about your submitted work must take place with your tutors to help you develop your subject understanding and share your learning journey, sources and experiences with your tutors
No formal qualification are required although some universities will ask for English and Maths at level 2. Applicants will complete an assessment in reading and writing to ensure that they are proficient enough to benefit from the level 3 content of this course.
If your Maths and English are not at GCSE grade C please look at our Access to HE Business Diploma (with Maths and English Level 2).
With the appropriate grade at Level 3 you may be eligible to progress to a Higher Education programme within the Business, Accounting, Marketing or Finance sectors.
Use the UCAS website to search for University courses that might accept our Access to HE Courses and don’t forget if you go on to successfully complete your University course, your 24+ Student Learner Loan will be written off.

You will have access to a full range of rich blended learning content for all your course subjects, some of which will be interactive online materials and some more traditional word and slide show materials.
The interactive materials are an exciting way to learn and motivate you to help your understanding of the subjects and your motivation for learning.
Students are able to progress into Higher Education or enhance their career prospects. Students primarily progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Business, Economics and Accounting. These may include some of the following areas of Degree level study: Business Studies, Marketing, Economics, Accountancy, Business Management, Trading and Finance related degrees.
